Launching "A Bitter Taste of Freedom"

A Bitter Taste of Freedom - the portrait of one of the most admired women of our time. Russian film maker Marina Goldovskaya had Anna Politkovskaya as a student in the 1980s. Anna appeared in a film called "A Taste of Freedom" (1991). Marina continued to film her until 2005. A Bitter Taste of Freedom is launched 5 years after her death.

Based on this unique material, Marina Goldovskaya has made a moving film that offers a wide specter of emotions and a deeper insight into what moved Anna Politkovskaya to risk her life defending the freedom she believed every Russian deserves. The Murder

Anna Politkovskaya was murdered on October 7, 2006. Five years later, the people responsible for the act have yet to be brought to justice. The film "A Bitter Taste of Freedom" will be released for television in time for the five year anniversary of the murder.

Marina Goldovskaya is a legendary Russian film maker. She has over 30 documentary films to her credit and has won numerous international awards. She is known as "A Woman with a Film Camera", having shot most of her films herself. A Bitter Taste of Freedom is based on video shot by Marina from 1990 to 2005.
